This holiday season we are raising money to provide our participants the camping gear they need to complete land conservation service projects throughout New Mexico.
So far in 2023, CCNM crew members have completed 25,500 hours of service on public lands in New Mexico positively impacting 178 acres of land and 45 miles of trail. Individual placement interns served 31,951 hours monitoring wildlife, protecting natural and cultural resources, educating their communities, and more.
This year, 60 crew members have spent 2,550 nights camping in the field.
Camping gear is expensive, and access to camping equipment can create barriers for people who want to join out program but don’t have the gear or money to purchase gear. By having a cache of camping equipment, we are working towards eliminating one barrier to our program to better support equitable spaces for all to feel comfortable, confident, and welcome in the outdoors.
Our gear has seen a lot of use this year, and we aim to replace a lot of it for 2024.
Give a gift that has a lasting impact for youth to get outdoors! Your contributions will allow us to purchase the following items for our members: tents, sleeping pads, sleeping bags, backpacks, headlamps, rain jackets and water containers.
